One thing you can say about McCartney is that he always sounds like Paul McCartney. This sounded like Beatles out-takes and demos that didn't quite make the cut. Which makes sense given the year of release. There was a feel of the White Album about a lot of this, especially some of the drumming. Not unpleasant but nothing here really jumped out and grabbed me either.

He still has the magical musical stardust, even on a DIY effort. Imagine what some of these songs would have sounded like with the full on Beatles production. But then again, the rough and ready allows them to stand on their own, without the strings etc. Not a bad debut. He seems like a nice fella.
