This is refreshing, once again, in this ocean of Western music that composes this list. And it is actually pretty soothing. Not really the kind of stuff I listen to usually, but the mix between the traditional instruments, building the atmosphere, and the more modern/western instruments (slide guitar and flutes) build something really interesting.
This is exactly the sort of album that there should be more of on this list. It’s an improvised piece based on traditional Indian musical raga forms, telling the story of a day in the life of a shepherd. As well as the evocative sounds of the tabla and santor, there are also guitars and flutes which made this a crossover between Indian and Western music and influenced people like George Harrison and David Crosby.
