Off The Wall

I realize now that I knew the name of the record, I know most of Jackson's hit, but there are not so many songs I knew on this one. So, about it, let's start with the good part: it's a solid funk album, the music is entertaining and made to dance. The bad part: it's kinda repetitive, Jackson is growing but not yet feeling his albums with hits, and let's be honest: his voice is really anoying, like a mouse squeaking for an hour.

OK, let’s start with the good. This is objectively a fine album, musically speaking. Quincy Jones is clearly the driving force behind this and his trademark production genius is to the fore, and there are songwriting credits for Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney too. The bad, is that it’s very difficult to listen to this knowing what we do about just how damaged Jackson was and how that manifested itself in his later life.
