Third/Sister Lovers

I'm struggling to understand what I've just listened. Is this a scam? Is this brilliant? Is this bloated and arrogant? Is this all of the above? For sure, there are some brilliance in it, there as also some passably boring tracks; sounds like it's either really good or terribly bad, no middle ground. I guess that's the seventies... with a band that digested its influences from the 60s, explored and might have thrown bridges to the independent/alt rock of the 80s. Goo(ba)d stuff.

Imagine an album of music made by people who are bored and irritated by the whole process and each other. This album from 1974 is exactly that and sounds as you might expect, a shambolic, rambling mess that was wisely shelved at the time. For some reason it attained a semi-mythical status through bootlegged tapes and was eventually released four years later. They really shouldn’t have bothered.
