Rhino

Rhino Records, also known as Rhino, is a renowned music label that was established in 1973 by Richard Foos. Starting as a record store in Westwood California, Rhino quickly gained recognition with its first successful release "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer in 1975. The label's early logo featured "Rocky the Rhino" and focused on novelty, surf, local new wave bands, and reissues of out-of-print records from other labels.

Under the guidance of Bill Inglot for production, Ken Perry for mastering, and A&R team Gary Stewart and James Austin, Rhino expanded its catalog to include a wide range of reissues by the mid-1980s. The label underwent a logo redesign during this time period to simply "Rhino". In 1984, Rhino released its first CD and became known for manufacturing high-quality CDs made by Sanyo (1984-85) and various manufacturers from Japan or Switzerland thereafter.

In 1985, Rhino entered into a distribution deal with Capitol Records which lasted until 1992. This partnership allowed access to Capitol's back catalog and led to the release of reissues of old Capitol albums. Additionally, EMI and Rhino acquired the Roulette family of labels in 1989. As their deal with Capitol came to an end in 1992, Time-Warner offered an opportunity for growth. Half of the label was sold to Time-Warner

Simply Red is a British soul and pop band that was formed in Manchester in 1984. The band was founded by lead vocalist and songwriter Mick "Red" Hucknall, along with former members of the band Durutti Column - bassist Tony Bowers, drummer Chris Joyce, keyboardist/brass player Tim Kellett, guitarist Sylvan Richardson, and keyboardist Fritz McIntyre. They signed to Elektra Records and released their debut album "Picture Book" in October 1985.

Over the years, the band underwent lineup changes. By 1996, Mick Hucknall was the only original member remaining, and Simply Red had become synonymous with his name. After being dropped by their label EastWest in 2000, they established simplyred.com as their own label and released the album "Home" in 2003, along with all subsequent releases.

In 2010, Hucknall retired the name Simply Red after a farewell tour but reunited in 2015 for a tour commemorating the band's 30th anniversary. They also released the album "Big Love". Some of their biggest hits include "Money's Too Tight (To Mention)", "Holding Back The Years", "The Right Thing", "It's Only Love", "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Something Got Me Started", "Stars", "Fairground", and "Sunrise".

Originally released in 1985, Picture Book is the debut album from British Pop and Soul group, Simply Red. The album includes the bands most successful single Holding Back The Years and earned the band a Grammy in 1987 for Best New Artist.
