This album is like the definitive 80's butt rock album for me. It's not totally for me, but I see the appeal; the blend of gated reverb, square-wave synth and 80's high gain power chords with multi-tracked vocals is a powerful sound. And the beginning yell of Stagefright sounds 100% like Dr. Rockso! All fun enough to get a medium score from a genre that might otherwise rate poorly.
Was ready to not like this after Hysteria, but this is the better album by far, even though it's very glam metal-ish. Decent album despite me not liking butt rock in general. 3.25/5
I think Hysteria is a classic, but Pyromania blows it out of the water. An absolutely massive sounding and still killer hard rock album with unforgettable hooks and tight performances throughout. It’s pop, it’s rockin, it even still has a touch of metal. Cannot recommend it enough. A-
