I’ve always been somewhat conflicted on Paranoid, especially after years of spinning it. I think the first side is ridiculously overplayed and I can go the rest of my life without hearing any of it, aside from “Iron Man”, which in the right moment still shakes me to my core. But side B? That’s as perfect as metal gets. The oversaturation makes the album feel overrated to me. Give me Master of Reality or the Dio stuff any day. But this is still as essential as you can get. A-, just missing the 5 star threshold

Somehow I ignored Black Sabbath albums for most of my life, probably assuming it'd sound too "old" or something. However, this album is just very good. I really enjoyed it. 4/5

This album is pretty great, and is the first Sabbath album I became super familiar with. It's pretty dynamic throughout, though loses some steam in the last few songs for me. 3.5/5
