I’ve been looking forward to this one coming up. I really enjoyed PJ Harvey’s debut album (first heard through this list) and this one is even better, thanks in part to superb production by the great Steve Albini that is both unvarnished and dramatic. The title track and album opener is a spine tingling start building slowly and ending in a violent emotional catharsis, making it probably the greatest breakup song of all time. The rest of the album is similarly good with all of the songs written by Harvey with the exception of a cheeky cover of Highway 61 Revisited that she included for her parents who were Dylan fans. Lick-my-legs-I’m-On-Fire-tastic!
