The problem with double albums is that it is hard to stay consistent for so long, and to deliver quality over the equivalent of 2 records. The results on this one is, as you might expect, unequal. Some really good pieces, mixing different genres (including jazz, good electronica, and so on), and more repetitive/boring pieces. I'd happily cut it in half, keep the best half as the "real" album, and the second half as the additional record you sometimes get on deluxe edition and, let's be honest, you never listen to because it's not that good.

Drum and Bass is something of an acquired taste, but I found the insistent rhythms on this overlaid with gorgeous vocals to be utterly compelling. The repetitive beats end up being hypnotic and almost fade into the background, in a similar way to minimalist classical pieces by Philip Glass do. Excellent stuff!
