Devil Without A Cause

Strangely enough, Kid Rock never got big in France (or at least around me) when Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach and all these bands being big with their "white guy rap with saturated guitars". I am kinda glad of this, because I can see how teenage-me would have love this, and I can see how grown-up-me hates this. There are clear rip off of RATM, the guy is full of himself (it's kind of common in this branch of the business, but he's another league), the country/rap/rock is painful (I might be a white boy but I'm not an American white boy), and lots of it just sounds fake. And apparently the guy is now a giant prick (who could have predicted?). I was close to give it a 2 (for teenage-me digging rap metal), but then the album never finishes. Fuck it.

OK, I went on a bit of a journey with this one. I initially expected some sort of child friendly novelty music, but the opening track sounded intriguing right up to the point it turned into a white guy rapping. Alarm bells were starting to go off, but I still thought it might turn out to be something like the Beastie Boys (who really are the exception that proves the rule with this sort of music). I then went to check his Wikipedia page, which ticked every single red flag - confederate flag on stage - check, anti vaxer - check, Trump supporter - check. OK, I’m out.
