Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Jan 08 2024

Strong lyricism and the voice of someone who has seen things and the pain sticks with them. Not my usual cup of tea but can't deny the poet.

The most listened to and first song tested me. I almost actively despise this - I'm sorry to any fans. It does seem important in bringing hard rock to pop if that hand't been done yet and seems like a transition from 60s to 70s. Some of the less popular songs are ok. At least not every song is about sex. I think.

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jul 05 2026

Overall, I didn't find this exciting and sometimes annoying. There were some songs that made it redeemable for my tastes - Rock 'n' Roll Star and Slide Away.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds
Jul 07 2026

A few songs break through otherwise okay folk pop. The proto-psych rock stuff stands out. Half-tempted to get a copy of this.

Back to Mystery City by Hanoi Rocks
Jul 08 2026

I could see how this appealed to those that wanted rock with just a touch of punk/proto-punk influence. Reading up about the band, it gives me strange emotions to think about them coming out of punk rock and influencing glam metal. Also there's a sax.

John Prine by John Prine
