From heartbreak and break-ups to loneliness, young female singer-songwriters are shaping the themes of pop music. For some, anger, revenge, disappointment and bitterness are also part of the mix. However, I think for Lorde it stays at heartbreak and sorrow. Her music is very much of the moment. But none of that interests me in the slightest. I hate to sound like an old white boomer, but this music is as ordinary as it is trivial. Goodness, I was so bored. But I suppose I’m not the target audience either.
