OK, I like Nick Cave but I had never heard The Birthday Party previously. I listened a couple times through this album, the first listen was difficult. I'm listening a third time right now and things are improving. The music seems more accessible if not quite inviting. The lyrics where discernable are provocative as expected from Nick Cave. The arrangements are still very difficult as is the screaming vocal style. Some songs will never be anything I can listen to and enjoy. 2.5 stars
