The national… yawn. How can a band that actually have a rather distinctive sound to them sound so generic and boring, looking at other reviews maybe it’s his voice the guy just doesn’t sound very invested into the music stoned and tired at the same time, like I would definitely give the guy a chance if he was invented but not a good vocalist but this guy sounds like he could sing if he wanted to. I can see the appeal for his voice though as it’s the kinda voice that’s all over the 2010’s “indie rock” albums that people somehow see as passionate but for me they make it join the same sonic plane as imagine dragons (ok maybe that’s too far but you get my point). In comparison to other albums on the list and their scores this is a tad overrated in my opinion especially seeing that this is like a 3.3 and most britpop albums all exist at the 3.1 mark. Now to the positives: I actually think lyrically he’s very good and the other musicians definitely can play their instruments to a good level. I guess it’s a 3 overall I just kinda felt like ranting over this band.
