Me Against The World
2Pac

2Pac's murder, given his obsession with death on Me Against the World, gave this album added poignancy. Swathes of rappers focused on such themes, of course; a grim reflection of America's shameful statistics on the life expectancy of black males and high rates of homicide. 2Pac meant so much to so many - a charismatic, inspirational, flawed individual - and undoubtedly burnished his legacy. Me Against the World has a few stand out tracks, a lot of which are deeply personal, but there is a lot of filler as 2Pac flits from theme to theme. It never entirely lands and I secretly prefer the ambition and scope of All Eyez on Me.
