Nostalgia strong with this one, an album of such promise and excitement being, as I was, the same age as the band, born too in 1977 - the year Star Wars was released and hence the references throughout this album. So many rock solid hits - the singles are absolutely terrific - Goldfinger an incredible lovelorn tune with pulsating drive, into Girl From Mars - fast paced and bouncy - with Kung Fu, Oh Yeah, Angel Interceptor - they just keep coming. Album tracks are usually goofy extended rock jams with a few decent licks but nothing particularly exciting. I know metal heads who hate Ash for biting the style of others but I disagree - the accomplishment of such a young band - this their DEBUT - is really something. As an example of 90s BritPop / AltRock this is a fine example. Itβs place on this list? My heart says five but my head says four.
