I do love XTC but I had never heard this album. Probably because it is not available on streaming services. Weird none of their work post 92 is on there. XTC are one of the spearheads of post-punk music, one of my favourite genres, but after a while they started to make more art pop almost type music and it is just not as good for me. I enjoy a lot about this album it just never reaches any high points, there is nothing fun. It doesn't bore me it just does not excite me like their 1979 album does. I think they had a lot of potential and with making plans for Nigel being such a hit I thought they would stick with that kind of music. Clearly other people love it as it is highly rated but just a bit in the middle for me. Standard 3/5. Stand out songs: Easter Theatre Your Dictionary The Last Balloon
