This was a new experience for me. The only Herbie I had experienced before is Herbie: Fully Loaded. I was expecting this album to be conventional jazz (or what I consider to be conventional jazz) with a saxophone, piano, drums, and an upright bass. I was surprised to hear how electronic and funky it was. My musical palette is not well developed for this kind of album. I have a hard time listening actively, and it largely fades into (enjoyable) background noise. I liked what I heard, but I'd never put this on when I am trying to actually listen. I'd put it on as I do work, or have some atmosphere around my house. I liked Watermelon Man the most. Sly gave me anxiety. I know this album is not a 3 star album, but I'm going to give it a 6/10 purely based on my enjoyment. I am not a jazzman. 6/10
