This album was alright. I'm becoming more aware of a portion of rock that I would describe as 'just a lot of noise'? The last half of Tarpit is a great example. It's a howling noise overlaid with the singer tonelessly repeating the same line. Underneath all that is an obscured guitar track and drums that seems like it may be pleasant, but you wouldn't know. I don't really like having my ears blasted with random noise, and I think I'm just not part of the generation where that was subversive and interesting. The rest of the songs were pretty alright. The vocals were not offensive but also not great, and it sounded like a whole lot of some pretty conventional rock. I did genuinely enjoy a few songs, like Sludgefeast and In a Jar. I probably won't ever listen to this again, but I'd describe it as boring rather than bad? This does not apply to the second half of Tarpit which I don't need to hear. 5/10
