Mask
Bauhaus

Considering my favorite time and place for music is 1977 to 83 in England, its a bit weird that I've never owned or heard a Bauhaus album. Not surpisingly I liked alot of things about this album; the ringing guitars, the huge drum sound the prominent bass and he monotone vocals all sound familiar and comfortable to me. I lke both the atmopheric songs like Of Lillies and Remains with its simle walking bass and stabbing guitars it sounds like it could have come directly of of PiLs Metal Box and the foreboding creep of Hollow Hills as well as the hard driving songs like Kick in the Eye with its funky bass line and hard driving In Fear of Fear. But for me they really hit their stride on mid tempo songs like The Passion of Lovers and Mask. A nice discovery who's place in my library is long overdue3.5 stars
