This rock album has a lot to go for it. Tyler's vocals are instantly recogniseable, the musicians are good and the songs are catchy. For me personally it is an 'almost' on most scores and therefore it sits in the... what do you call the opposite of a 'sweet spot'? Despite the (well cultivated?) rowdy looks and behaviour of the band, I find the songs quite soft, a bit cliché, and commercial sounding. I can see the appeal and many songs are quite fun, I'm sure it's good on parties. Apparently, this album (and Aerosmith in general) has had a great influence on other musicians, some of which I do like, and I agree that this album deserves to be in the list of 1001. In terms of musical creativity and emotional appeal it's a bit lacking for me.
