I own this album and have heard it many times. These first couple Belle & Sebastian albums are the best. Stuart Murdoch wrote and sings most if not all the songs and they just feel like more singular visions compared to the more collective style they went to after this. They've got a cool, slightly twee jangle pop sound. Stuart Murdoch's style kind of reminds me a little of Morrissey at times. I think all the songs are good -- standouts for me are "The Stars of Track and Field", "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying", and "The Fox in the Snow". 4.5 stars
