Blackstar
David Bowie

This was Bowie's last album before he died and he wrote it while he undergoing treatment for liver cancer. That's pretty bleak. "Blackstar" was really long and I didn't enjoy too much about it. The instrumentals were fine, I don't enjoy Bowie's voice much, and I didn't like the constant "I'm a blackstar" bit. "Man she punched me like a dude" is an interesting lyric. Again, the backing musicians on "'Tis A Pity She Was A Whore" are doing some nice work, but I don't enjoy any of the vocals. Reading articles about how people revere these songs makes me feel like I'm being punked. "Dollar Days" is my favorite song so far, its nice. Nice saxophone sections. Sorry David, I just don't really like this. I don't understand how all the reviews are so positive. The singing is distinctly *not* pleasant to listen to, and the instrumentals are kind of boring for long stretches. 4/10
