This record could have been so much better. Take a track like 'Twenty Four Hours' which calls to mind the gloomy moody music of contemporaries such as the Cure combined with the repetitive rhythmic Motorik influence of German groups like Neu! The band cooks up a cool sounding song, but then Ian Curtis comes into the picture and really ruins it with his low-toned, low-mixed and often off-key mumbling. This happens on every single track, sadly.
