Imagine
John Lennon

Oh John, John Lennon is a difficult figure for me. I think that without him the Beatles wouldn't be nearly as good as they are, yet he's not that great without the rest of the Beatles. I much prefer Paul and George's post-Beatles work. A lot of John's solo music is uninteresting to me or even obnoxious. My feelings on this album are overall positive. The title track is by far the biggest song from this album as well as Lennon's solo career as a whole. Most people either think its one of the greatest songs ever made or they think its overrated whiny crap. Personally I'm somewhere in the middle though I would agree that its probably the best song on the album. I think if you separate "Imagine" from John as a person its a really nice song. The other notable song is the bizarre Paul McCartney slander on "How Do You Sleep?". Why does this song exist? Like it sounds fine but the concept of a Beatles diss track makes me roll my eyes. The rest of the album is made up of hits and misses. It never becomes unlistenable or anything but it also never blows me away. Until I relisten to "Plastic Ono Band", this is still my favorite post-Beatles Lennon album. "Merry Christmas Yoko" Favorite track: Imagine 💩 3.5/5
