Bat Out Of Hell
Meat Loaf

I've always thought Jim Steinman was sort of an interesting songwriter with a pretty distinct and recognizable style My biggest problem with this album is in it's execution. If you just took the songs on their own, it kind of comes off as a poor man's Born to Run, which is perfectly fine. I might even get to 4 stars on such an album. But, I think Todd, Jim, and Meat threw in equal parts Grease soundtrack, and it comes out sounding more like Born to Run: The Musical. There's like an element of cheese spead over the whole affair. But, I do enjoy the title track and "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad", and I think there's a good song in "Paradise By the Dashboad Light" somewhere. 3 stars.
