This is one of my all-time favorite albums. I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's the only Beach Boys album I ever listen to as an album, rather than in compilations. It's getting a 10. "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is such a beautiful song. It's one of their biggest hits and it doesn't disappoint. "You Still Believe in Me" slows it down a little and focuses in on Brian a little more. He crushes it. I love the percussion on "I'm Waiting For The Day". There's so much going on. I love the big raucous instrumental sections broken up by quieter solo vocals. Is there a flute in there? It's ripping. A calming and centering instrumental break in "Let's Go Away For Awhile" is nice. We're about to go into a banger, so it's nice to have a few minutes of respite. "Sloop John B" is one of my favorite Beach Boys songs. This is not a hot take. I love the a capella section in the middle. I chuckle occaisonally when he says 'this is the worst song I've ever been on'. It's easy for the lyrics to fade away into general positivity when you're not listening actively, and that line always pulls me back in. The song has an interesting history going back a century before the Beach Boys interpretation. It is originally a folk song from The Bahamas. It's worth reading a little about it. "God Only Knows" is ALSO one of my favorite Beach Boys songs. The musical arrangement is beautiful. The Beach Boys are a combination of so many things I love in a band. The songs are short, the harmonies are beautiful, the piano & organ are perfect. Brian Wilson's voice is so iconic and enjoyable to listen to. We are listening to this the day after Brian Wilson died, so this felt like a nice tribute. I see you pulling the strings Mr. 1001albumsgenerator.com. RIP Brian. 10/10
