Odd that this came up the day Brian Wilson died. It doesn’t evoke the same feelings for me as the earlier albums did. It feels a little all of the place, which I normally love. But I guess it’s hard when it’s just not hitting that classic mark for me. I also think that’s what makes it a fun journey. I’d never heard this album, so it’s a pretty amazing experience to hear them do something so unexpected consistently. The consensus is correct. Student Demonstration took me out of it completely. Otherwise, psychedelic Beach Boys making a 70s album.
