This is our second Elliot Smith record this month. I liked the last one. "Son of Sam" is a much more electric and big sounding song than any on his previous record. I like the piano backing. I've listened to the Gotye "Somebody I Used to Know" so much that my brain is filling parts of that song around Elliot's singing of the same phrase. Sorry Elliot, Gotye really stole this one. It's a nice song regardless. I like "Everything Means Nothing to Me". This was a different album to "Either/Or". I liked it a lot. It had a lot more instrumentation and was a lot livelier in a way that still felt true to his sound. It had a lot of intimate lyrics, but not in the overtly bleak way that "Either/Or" had. 8/10
