The WhoThat feels sacrilegious, tbh, but I’m writing this as a review hearing it now, not as a product of its times, primarily. It is of course a genre-busting revelation. But wow, the politics of this record do not hold up at all. Disability as metaphor is so tired, and the way sexual violence is portrayed is um, problematic, to say the least. That said, I enjoy the storytelling, and musicianship, and the vision of it all, and also too, I found a fair number of songs to just be boring? And, there are some great lines, harmonies, and sweet memories of singing along to it with my dad as a kid. (edited)
