This album being released in 2002 still clearly has a lot of early 90's hip hop influential. My first listen tends to focus more on rhythm and lyrical flow, and based off that I hear similarities to Hyroglphyics, with less lyrical depth. Most if not all of the drum tracks sound like they're physical drums which is a really nice fresh sound when most tracks these days are 808s and other synthetic percussion. It is disappointing when a song bops, and suddenly "gay" is used in a derogatory way. It's a theme that is prevelant in a handful of hip-hop groups/artists, its walking on eggshells in the times of "cancel" culture. But, if you don't like something you can choose to not listen. 7.0/10
