L.A. Woman by The Doors
Sep 09 2021

Interesting! Sounds like all the corner blues players on the streets and in bars. Singer was not that great, but this was the 70s.

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair
Sep 10 2021

Distilled and concentrated 90's punkrock. If you want to know why a lot of pop songs from this decade took on the patina of angst and confusion, this is why. Although I grew up during this era and love the influence it has had on pop culture, it's a little too distilled for my taste.

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Jun 11 2025

Eh, it's a very rough, unpolished, gritty version of a mashup between KISS and Rolling Stones. Most of the songs, the lead singer is just screaming at the top of his lungs off key; the lead guitar seems hesitant to actually make something unique; and the songs were.... fomulaic. Overall, it sounded like an exec and a desparate band decided to make a rough copy of KISS and Rolling Stones, only to come out with a worse sounding alternative and even worse record sales. I can't comment on the influence it's had as the jangling, disjointed guitar solos are still rattling my brain.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jun 12 2025

Classic Jack White! Loved the bluegrass and country blendings with rock and funk! Gives it a novelty that is sorely missing across contemporary pop music.
