This album is certainly an influential "classic". Pre-fame/early Kanye was able to be poignant and a little poppy without all the pretentiousness that muddies his later works. You can tell that this is someone with a unique voice and playful sensibilities, while also being eager/hungry, earnest, and appreciative.

Love the guitar riffs but the vocals alternate between completely lacking tone or melody and shrill hair band screams (while consistently remaining devoid of harmony). I would love to hear someone with great musical instincts perform these songs at karaoke; they could be really special if the vocals sounded musical.
