I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You
Aretha Franklin
The title track says it all. Aretha put it all on display here. This album clearly isn't about the songwriting, the instrumentals or the production. This album is all about Aretha's voice. Her spin on several of her male counterparts' songs, and it's arguable that she does them better. This is southern soul at it's finest. Aretha is one of the GOATs - easily. It's hard to pick highlights because every performance is gold. "Drown" is one I didn't know very well before this listen, but it was an unexpected favorite during this listen. "A Change is Gonna Come" is such a powerful song, and while Aretha didn't write it, she perfected its delivery.

xx
The xx
This was a snoozefest. They have two vocalists, and they both sounded so disconnected and apathetic the entire album. The stripped down, chill instrumentals are ... okay ... but I was extremely bored and felt uninspired while listening to this.

Fear Of Music
Talking Heads
I love myself some Talking Heads - this album was a little rough though. The whole album felt formulaic. Tina's bass was nice, as always. not much else to say. Life During Wartime is classic.

Surf's Up
The Beach Boys
Liked it more after a few listens. Nice break from the beachy beach boys. appreciated all the different feelings/genres. I hate to admit that I don't know much about the Beach Boys, this definitely has me interested in listening to more of their catalog.
