My first time listening with intent to Frank Sinatra. The quality of his voice (such a nice timbre) and delivery (especially his phrasing) are certainly remarkable. The supporting arrangements are sweet and creative, especially the voicings of the highly varied instruments. There was certainly more here for me than simple reflection of bygone days and the caricature it has come to represent. Still… this album fails to draw me in emotionally. This isn’t music that hits me at a gut level.
