1001 Albums Summary

It's like they grew up and saved the best album till last. Marr took them in a new direction and the result is a more mature sound than their first albums

Just couldn't keep my attention. A couple of good tracks but this album didn't seem to know what it wanted to be. I couldn't pin what mood I'd want to be in if I wanted to listen to this again, and that's a hypothetical 'if' as I won't be doing that

This is one I'd give a 3.5 if I could, and as it's not a 4 star it's been downgraded to 3. Many of these songs we part of my introduction to punk, living in Ireland in the late 70s, early 80s, so it definitely induces some nostalgia for me. Raw, fast, simple and fun. Jimmy Jimmy and Here comes the Summer are two stand outs for me, but its Teeange Kicks that's one of my all time favorites from this era.

Sums up much of what I love about Talking Heads. Rhythmic, manic, anxiety inducing, funky in parts. Produced by Brian Eno in possibly my favorite period of his career, having just worked with Bowie on his Berlin trilogy. Standout track "Life during wartime"

If I'd come across this in my early teens I might have given it a go, but my tastes have moved on from there. If I'm in the mood for guitar based rock now, Hendrix or Zeppelin would be my go to's, which are far superior to this.

Trying to figure out how this landed in the top 1001. Completely washed over me

This was the first album I bought of Bowie's, that subsequently developed in to a life long love of his music. Nuff said. Any Bowie album in this list will be an automatic 5 star for me :)
