Common is really good at painting pictures with his lyricism. J Dilla's prod is on point. Not super into the neo-soul vibe though. I personally liked the tracks where Kanye was featured the best (I really prefer his production style to J Dilla's), and also Go! and Testify. Although I think this album is pretty OK I genuinely don't see what makes it stand-out enough to be on a top albums list. I think I just might have brainrot from listening to so much experimental hip hop that a dude rapping about how he loves his partner over a soul beat feels really corny and uninteresting. 3/5
