Going in completely blind, I was completely immersed in the record's unique sound and texture for the first few tracks, but as the record progressed, it became clear that they didn't have much else to say. The vocals are without a doubt the highlight of the album, I was a huge fan of the harmonies throughout and how and when rhythmic unison was used. The lead vocal performance is infectiously energetic so even on some of the weaker tracks it never becomes boring. For a debut record it’s heavily ambitious but they never really try to go out of their comfort zone and just stagnant on the main idea of this record so it can get repetitive. On a side note I’m always going to appreciate a record where the percussionist goes the extra step with writing their parts to make something unique and this is very true for this album. Although I very much enjoyed the main idea, I wish they wouldn’t have dwelled on it as much. Still I’d be interested to see where this band went after this album and will definitely now check out the rest of their discography. A strong 3
