It's always wild to me when I hear an "influential" album for the first time. I'll hear sounds and genre inflections that you assumed didn't exist until much later. Listening to this album I kept double checking that it came out in 1991, you could have fooled me and said it came out in the later half of the decade. Some truly stunning and innovative stuff, although I think it gets a little weird and meandering at some points on its genre journey, still a wonderful time.
