Solid album for easy listening. The guitar parts are technically impressive, but the album never really pulled me in and made me stop and listen.
The lyrics are solid and this group has a clear mastery of rhythm. The "chorus" sections are nice. Hip hop is admittedly not a genre I listen to much of, but I've never heard a group deliver the lyrics like Jurassic 5 is doing here. The backing tracks are a major turn off. In many cases there's only 4 bars of a very simple track on repeat for the entire piece with little to no variation.
I love the laid back groove of this album. This is also the first album where I've specifically noticed the mix, and that throughout the album which track sounds like it's "on top" varies, which is a cool effect. All that said, there are only a couple tracks on this album that really stand out and that I can foresee myself ever coming back to, so I don't think I can give it a 4 star rating. If I could do 3.5 I would.
