I'm beyond stoked that this album was my first piece of homework. CCR is a band that has always strategically placed critical thoughts in my cranium. Now I may be biased, seeing as how I peeked at the track list before spinning the record....but the album is choogy man. It choogs. With a BPM that resonates with trudging through a swamp, driven forward only by fear as the growl of John Fogerty creeps up behind you. The album is swamp rock, but you can't write about the chug without payingn homage to artists like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. The Album is rural blues with a little more foliage. Coming in from 1969 you can see where The Eagles found inspiration for tracks like Witchy Woman and Chug All Night. All in all the album is tight. It's pulls from so many obvious spaces while still remaining its own. Hell Yea.
