I love this album, a bit front loaded but undoubtedly fantastic. Changed my mind a lot about how good Billy Joel really could be, as I was a bit bias since I judged him as only being as good as his greatest hits. In actuality, its clear that he is a wise songwriter with a lot of depth, and I think he really peaked here.
What's to be said about this record. Its a classic. Not quite my favorite Bowie record but it's definitely one of his best. Tracks like 'Starman', 'Five Years' and 'Moonage Daydream' are utterly undeniable. And despite this not being my favorite Bowie record, I can eaaaasily see why it's often touted as his best. Its universally likeable and I think it marked the point when Bowie became absolutely iconic. Definitely a 10/10 record.
The early beatles albums aren't particularly my favorite in their catalogue, and I've revisited them far less than anything beginning from Rubber Soul onward. This albums a little better than Please Please Me imo, its more aligned with my taste in the band. I'm almost tempted to give this one 2 stars but it just feels wrong, I feel like a 3 out of 5 is fair enough as there's just enough to like in this one.
I have so little to say about this album as it is one that I've heard a billion times over. It's blatantly a masterpiece, with its cold atmosphere and incredible production.
A great album, though undeniably upheld a lot by its opening, titular track. Thats not to say the rest isn't incredible too though, to say that would be blasphemous. Funkadlelic and Parliament manage to do Funk like no others can, and the tracks on this record are some of the best in the genre.
This was a tough listen for me, I found this record to be insanely boring. I've never been the biggest fan of Paul Simon, so having to hear an album from arguably the low point in his career, wasn't very fun.
The album either meandered in its ambience and was a snore, or was horribly dated sounding as a result of the blown out drums and gross 80s production that aged like milk.
Im gonna have to give this a 2/5, it had some redeemable qualities and the title tracks great, but fuck me I was so bored 😴
Man, I gotta say, I was expecting to give this one a 3/5. Aja is the Steely Dan album that really appeals to me, and for some reason I'd always expected their other albums would be a bit lesser, as I expected them to be less captivating instrumentally and with inferior production. Happy to say that wasn't the case, this is an awesome record and it passed by so quickly since I enjoyed it so much. Easy 4/5, makes me want to go through their whole discog!
Hmmm, what to say here. Much like a lot of pop albums in the early 2000s, this one falls victim to an overly long tracklist. This really isn't a terrible album, but the production gets gratingly repetitive and there just isn't enough versatility.
Aguilera undeniably has a great voice, and a lot of the songwriting is fairly memorable, its the length and lack of variety within the record that really drags it down.
Bob Marley's always extremely enjoyable and good fun. I wouldn't say this is the best I've heard from him, Exodus or Catch a Fire would take the cake there, but it's really good.
Still though I wouldn't quite give it an 8/10, more a 7, so on this scale it'll mean I'll give it a 3/5. But take that as a 3 given in good faith, this is a super enjoyable record.
