Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Oct 06 2023

An album made entirely of sampled material…the first of its kind. Vibrant, heart pumping, and difficult to imagine how it’s so fully realized given it’s place in history.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Oct 09 2023

Technique isn’t everything. He just gives off an incredible energy, like you can see him in full color through the audio. His vocal skill is nearly apparent for the whole album, but is thrust into clarity on the song “Oh Why?”.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Oct 10 2023

Jess and I listened to this album the last night of our time in New Orleans. We didn’t listen as closely as we might have, but I think it influenced the timbre of the evening in exactly the way one hopes.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Oct 11 2023

This was listened to in the recovery from New Orleans. Mellow in the way it needed to be. But I worry I’m not cool enough to get arcade fire. Which I think is even less cool to say now than it would have been 20 years ago to say.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Oct 12 2023

This coming so quickly after the Dre album didn't really work for me. I feel guilty, because I feel like I am trying to rate it honestly.

The Band by The Band
Oct 13 2023

Fascinating. Dixie especially, the political shifts. And the cool time signature stuff.

1999 by Prince
Oct 16 2023

Songs too long. Very fuck focused, which was nice. He crazy.
