such britpop. Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them before. Or… maybe I can. Can’t decide if I like or hate the cover; I don’t love it and I’m not neutral. The songs are good. The vocals are fine, I can’t really make out the lyrics. The guitars are big. Melodies at times remind me of the kinks. What year did this come out? 2001? A couple tracks remind me of early arctic monkeys, too, although I suspect this predates them. And the who. Very much the who on “going out.” And beatlesesque harmonies (and lyrics) on “you can’t see me.”wow, the stops (not epiglottal, idk the word, the four-on-the-floor noises they’re making) on the last track are near identical to the beat on spoon’s “stay don’t go.” Who got there first!!???! Spoon maybe wore it better. I dunno. All told it is a nice record. Kind of like… I dunno, little feat: it’s nice, it’s good, I enjoyed it, I don’t really see myself listening to it over and over. Perhaps it ushered in an era and just sounds blasé to me now. Although… blasé is too strong a word.
