1001 Albums Summary

Recognized "Heads Will Roll" right away. Thought second half of album was better than first. Favorite tracks for me include "Shame and Fortune," "Hysteric," and "Little Shadow." Rating: 3 out of 5 skeletons.

Probably one of the most popular albums of all time. I instantly recognized songs like “Movin’ Out” and “Only the Good Die Young,” which are staples on classic rock radio. It’s overall a good album. My favorite songs from it include “Just the Way You Are,” “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” and “Vienna.” 4 out of 5 strangers.

I was hoping to see some of the CCR songs I’ve previously listened to and enjoyed on this album, but alas the only one that I would probably listen to again with some regularity is “Proud Mary,” one of their more famous songs. I really didn’t like the first half of the album (was kind of bored tbh). Other standout tracks for me were “Good Golly Miss Molly” and “Penthouse Pauper.” I still like their sound and know they have better (for me) songs, but this one just didn’t hit for some reason. I’ll rate it 3 out of 5 swamp monsters!

I can definitely understand how they're considered pioneers in heavy metal. "Smoke on the Water" is likely their most popular song (and one of the most popular rock songs of all time...), and the only one I recognized from this album. Overall, I think it's a good album, but not a great one. I can understand its importance in music history, but I wasn't really 100% feeling the songs on this one. "Smoke on the Water" is probably my favorite, but I also enjoyed "Never Before." I give it 3 out of 5 space truckers!
