Burnout: Too relatable, even now haha
Having a Blast: Bit forgettable on first listen, might benefit from more replays.
Chump: I like this one more, although I wish I could understand the vocals more - nice bass line
Longview: I like the fade-in from the previous track, it's got a lot of energy for a song about feeling unmotivated lmao
Welcome to Paradise: The first song I recognise, it's a third of the way in, I dunno why that matters but it does? haha solid track, but I already knew that.
Pulling Teeth: Not a love song lmao I don't mind the change of pace, it's a bit slower.
Basket Case: This song is in my regular playlist; I like how dynamic it is - in the context of the album it really heightens the themes of dissatisfaction and general feeling of ennui.
She: This song is... okay? It's fine, it sounds like the rest of the album, but not in a bad way, just more of the same, which is good XD
Sassafras Roots: This is another kinda forgettable song for me on first listen, it's not bad, I just don't find it that interesting.
When I Come Around: Another song I knew previously, I always liked the groove of this song.
Coming Clean: As a bisexual person myself, can relate haha
Emenius Sleepus: This song slams in so quick after the last one geez haha I don't have a lot to say about it though haha
In the End: Another shorter, fast-paced song - I like the tempo, it's a nice bouncy beat.
F.O.D.: Oh HI music after acoustic start - Such an angry song, but not in a super aggressive way? ahaha
All by Myself: Okay Green Day, okay hahaha thank you for the second song about masturbating.
Second Hand News: Very bouncy track to start off with, one I didn't know of previously - it's good.
Dreams: I know this one, a more chilled out song from one side of a breakup, also good.
Never Going Back Again: Lil' guitar pickin track about moving on - rebounding haha
Don't Stop: One I know well, pulsing beat about looking forward - it's a great driving song for me.
Go Your Own Way: Also know this one well, very bitter song this one - it's like the drums are smacking the resentment into you by the end.
Songbird: A piano ballad love-song - very sweet in the midst of such an emotionally tumultuous album.
The Chain: Know this one well too, I'm a really big fan of it - the emotional build-up hits a great spot with the instrumental break and then the lyrical refrains.
You Make Loving Fun: Very funky song about that feeling of new love after pain - another different emotion as opposed to the tension in the other songs.
I Don't Want to Know: This song has got a sing-along boppy quality to it, feels different to the other songs as well.
Oh Daddy: Very moody, lyrics feel very stifling, trapped in something you know is bad for you but can't leave.
Gold Dust Woman: Another moody note, the original closer track one that definitely builds up the the emotional end.
Silver Springs: It's not in the original album, but I had to include it - what an emotional gut punch this song is, that last chorus repeat is a lot.
Son of Sam: Lyrics about the aforementioned serial killer son of sam, jaunty piano for the subject matter.
Somebody That I Used to Know: Acoustic guitar track about a breakup??? singer-songwriter vibes haha
Junk Bond Trader: I feel like I'm not connecting very much with this music so far - very disillusioned song about commodification.
Everything Reminds me of Her: I don't think this music is for me haha
Everything Means Nothing to Me: This dude is obviously going through it, damn, I don't mind this one.
L.A.: The first song I actually kinda dig, it's more structured so maybe that's why? Almost committing suicide is pretty dark subject matter but this song is pretty groovy.
In the Lost and Found (Honky Bach)/The Roost: I think this is about loving someone who is gone or was only there briefly?? So much jaunty piano with sad lyrics and then an instrumental at the end.
Stupidity Tries: I dunno, back again to not 'getting it' I think aha the songs aren't bad, they're done quite well in fact - I do think the extended outro is good for this song though.
Easy Way Out: This dude was wrecked by love wasn't he? Another fine song.
Wouldn't Mama Be Proud: This guy hated corporate bullshit a LOT haha very bitter about it - I mean it is fucking bullshit XD
Colorbars: He really didn't wanna be that archetype of a 'rockstar' huh
Happiness/The Gondola Man: Lying to yourself and trying to be happy I guess? haha
Pretty Mary Kay: Drugs to heal the pain of life then losing them.
Better Be Quiet Now: Break-up song of sorts, feeling empty when there used to be something there.
Can't Make a Sound: If ever there were a song about struggling to find a way to express yourself outside of your own insular world, this is it.
Bye: Instrumental track, piano - weirdly haunting.
