Was legit not sure I'd be into listening to a whole album of the Beastie Boys, but it lured me in - by the time "Girls" played I was bopping along, and was straight up dancing in front of my dog to "Brass Monkey". Lots of familiar tunes from middle and high school days, when my brother Jesse would sing verses from this album on repeat. Definitely an album to party to while flipping off the older generation.
Interesting beats, orchestrations, and appearances by guest artists. My first time listening to The Roots, and it sparked by interest in other work by them.

I can't even count the number of times I've listened to this album over the last 20+ years. An absolute staple for me, there's something for every mood.

Enjoyed it, reminded me a lot of John Denver. The classics like "Without You" and "Coconut" were probably my least favorites of the album. I loved the quieter tracks, beautifully sung, so expressive.
Certainly recognized the voice, though I've never heard of the album. Powerful album cover.
Easy listener, for sure, perfect early 60's vibes, but definitely not my favorite. I'm only 8 albums in, this is the only one so far that I wondered why it was on this list. Not bad, just not great. However, I enjoyed "Changes" and "This Will Be Our Year".
Whoa, this was so good. Never heard of John Grant before, but I love his vocals and his honest writing. Going into the regular rotation.
Zoned out to this album, in a pleasant way. One song blended into the next. I'm sure that upon further listening I can come to appreciate the nuance of each individual song. Good for yoga and art.
Definitely liked it, and recognized a few of the songs, but most definitely would have to give it a few more listens to really gauge my response. The parts I loved the most were the long sections of quiet, ethereal instrumentals.

I know Ravi Shankar influenced The Beatles, but beyond that I'm ignorant. So I enjoyed hearing his music, although it's not something I would listen to on repeat.
Great listen, reminded me a lot of Moby and the soundtrack to Snatch. Never heard of David Holmes, but not surprised to learn he's a prolific soundtrack composer, including the Ocean's Eleven series.
If "Someone Like You" were the only track, I'd still rate it a 5/5. The whole album is a 5+++/5.
Know and love this album, it's definitely high on the nostalgia for me, so I'll be curious to read how others feel about it. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because Graceland by Paul Simon is the clear winner, and I'm patiently waiting for that album to drop in here.
I'm sorry, I really can't do Neil Young. Tried it twice, couldn't get 20 seconds in. Might try again in a few years, but maybe not.
Accidentally listened to this twice, and not in album order thanks to a weird glitch with Amazon Music - but I enjoyed it more than I thought and was sorry it ended! Lorde's voice can be wearying after a while, but the album as a whole is well-balanced. I will definitely listen again.
Never listened to these guys before - very funky and fun, reminiscent of the B52s. I loved "Maggie's Farm", punky and poppy at the same time.
Strong Khazad-dûm vibes with this one, especially the first song, "Leben Heisst Leben" (Life is Life). Crunchy, grumbly deep voices, and some sick synth-driven orchestrations. Cinematic at times.
