Blackstar by David Bowie
Oct 21 2023

While listening to the album I wasn't getting too much into the songs but somehow learning about the release of this album surrounding Bowie's death it explains a lot. The lyrics are him giving his farewell to his fans and a send off the best he could. While the genre of the album might be rock or jazz, to me it is sci-fi space.

Disintegration by The Cure
Oct 22 2023

I had never really listened to The Cure before this album and I have to say I'm a bigger fan than I thought I would be. The album starts slow with a very plain song opening. Maybe that opening elevated the other songs or maybe it was better without including it. This album only has a few weaker songs and that could be due to my preferences, not because they are objectively weak songs. This album stands as one of the most consistent albums from a quality standpoint that I've heard in a while.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Oct 23 2023

This album was very consistent when came to overall tone, quality, and themes of the album. I enjoy the folk genre for it's up lifting feel and this album didn't disappoint.

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Oct 24 2023

Overall, this album was fairly decent but not exactly my favorite genre. I recognized some of the songs from Good Will Hunting which is one of my favorite movies. I think this connection raises my appreciation of the album but I still find it too "whispery" for the most part.

Old school rock

Tapestry by Carole King
Oct 26 2023

This album goes hard. Crazy Toy Story vibes throughout. Such an amazing voice to tie it all together.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Oct 27 2023

The album was overall very solid. I enjoyed the atmosphere that these songs created. I particularly liked the song M which had a lot of range to it.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Oct 29 2023

This album has a few good songs but mostly feels week and weird. I have to think this music inspired so much that came after it so it has that but the album could be better.

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Oct 30 2023

Sounds classic and holds up pretty well. A few great songs with different styles to keep it fresh.

Odelay by Beck
Oct 31 2023

This album has some great songs but also so many terrible songs or parts to songs. Sometimes it sounds like they forgot how to play a certain instrument and let them parts ruin otherwise good songs. Somewhat reminds me of the Backstreet boys but better music out there for sure.

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Nov 01 2023

Certified banger of an album. These songs have an old-school vibe but definitely do not sound dated. No idea what he is saying but the musical talent is there.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Nov 02 2023

Jazzy instrumental that is great for a listen. Upbeat and playful.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Nov 03 2023

An all time great rap album. Kendrick really liked to experiment with his sound and had several styles that he used to perfection. He is not just a rap bot but bring a message with a variety of styles. A few week songs but overall a solid album.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Nov 04 2023

Snoop is Snoop and not much has to be said about that. This album is solid but definitely feels dated. You can tell there was a real passion for this album with a lot of variety in voices and beats but sometimes that made it feel more like a student project than a real album.

Trans Europe Express by Kraftwerk
Nov 05 2023

To think someone would add this to their top 1000 albums is crazy. It is not bad music but it is very simple and boring. It is closer to 80s and '90s video game music with someone chanting the same lyrics for three minutes longer than needed.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Nov 06 2023

Strong album from a legend of his time. I will not this is the pinnacle of music but what this album brings is gangbanging real-world vibes that you can't replicate without real-world experience. Biggie captures a time and place with his music that feels authentic and does it with class through his lyrical wordplay.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Nov 07 2023

Heard their most famous songs growing up often and that shows how much they still hold up today. Their styles is unique and they aren't afraid to change styles. Feed your head!

Nov 08 2023

I went in with low expectations thinking I wouldn't like Lana Del Rey and turns out I was wrong. This album is pretty solid with Lana showing off the range of her voice but also capturing several feelings.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Nov 09 2023

Decent album with a unique heavy metal sounds to it

S&M by Metallica
Nov 11 2023

Pretty unique album that has a wide range of sounds and instruments. Cannot deny creativity of this band and love for their music.

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Nov 12 2023

It sounds good overall but just not for me I guess. The singers voice isn't the best but I usually like that out of tune voice to compliment the technical instruments. Here it just doesn't work that well.

Seventh Tree by Goldfrapp
Nov 13 2023

This album has a very fresh and uplifting feel to the music. I love the electronic mix with the strong vocals. Clowns and A&E are standout songs that make this album great.

London Calling by The Clash
Nov 14 2023

Pretty catchy punk rock. I could see how they would be iconic for their time with standout vocals and instrumentals.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen

A little too much dad rock for me but I really enjoyed the indie psychedelic vibes. Street Joy stands above the rest!
