Very hit or miss album. Front-loaded with most of the best tracks, it gets too repetitive as time goes on, and all the final tracks seem to sound alike. Roadhouse Blues is the obvious star of the show here, but my personal favorite track from this album has always been Waiting for the Sun. The first 30 minutes of the album show The Doors true range, switching from hardcore blues to psychedelic rock. While Jim Morrison’s sultry baritone and growling vocals are at the forefront, Manzerek and Krieger’s unique musicality make these tracks truly special. Unfortunately, the final tracks all share the same bluesy riffs and listening to the last half of the album is a bit of a chore.
