1001 Albums Summary

Pretty incredible album front to back. Obviously Freddie's voice shines but so does Brian May's guitar playing. Some impressive and intricate riffs sewn into this one. Listening to this in the modern day really makes you realize how much their sound influenced bands after them. Favorite Song: Stone Cold Crazy Favorite Moment: last 20 seconds or so of "Bring Back Leroy That Brown"

This was Depeche Mode's first top-10 album but even so, they were popular enough and I find it a hell of a bold choice to end this album with 5 straight instrumental tracks. I can't imagine a popular band doing so these days for almost an entire half of an album. The album overall is a little too lacking in dynamics for me. DM knows their sound and they stay safe within those confides. They are however, REALLY, REALLY good at working with that sound that has gained them the notoriety over the years. Favorite Song: "Personal Jesus" (honorable mention: "Memphisto") Favorite Moment: The intros and outros of "Waiting for the Night"
